Today, we come together to remember the extraordinary talent of Mark Margolis, a revered actor whose unforgettable performances in "Scarface" and "Breaking Bad" have left an indelible mark on our hearts and minds. It is with deep sadness that we gather here, acknowledging the passing of this iconic actor at the age of 83

Mark Margolis, an accomplished actor who played a mobster in "Scarface" and later rose to stardom for his iconic, frightful portrayal of a former drug lord in the television series "Breaking Bad," has died. Age-wise, he was 83.

The actor passed away on Thursday at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City following a brief illness, according to a statement from his son Morgan Margolis.

For his outstanding portrayal as Hector "Tio" Salamanca in "Breaking Bad," Margolis received a nomination in 2012. He played a character who was deaf due to a stroke, but he didn't need to speak to make his point.

It was enough to communicate with him through his looks and, occasionally, the usage of a potentially deadly bell on his wheelchair.

In "Better Call Saul," when he portrayed the part for cameo appearances from 2016 to 2022, he played the most of his subsequent memorable roles. During the show, he had to deal with a stroke.

The actor's stunning performance in "Breaking Bad" as a character with "unparalleled skill" who converted Hector Salamanca into an iconic television character has received several praises on social media.

The show's star, actor Bryan Cranston, lauded his co-star on Instagram, calling him "fun and busy on set" and someone who could frighten and intimidate people both on and off-screen. Margolis' ferocious energy was able to reconcile his naughty tendencies and his inquisitive, interested mind.

Margolis had previously played a variety of roles in movies, including in Darren Aronofsky's "Requiem for a Dream," "The Fountain," "Noah," "Black Swan," and "Pi." He has made cameos in the films "The Thomas Crown Affair," "Gone Baby Gone," "Ace Ventura: Pet Detective," and "Stand Up Guys."

Margolis, who was born in Philadelphia in 1939, studied acting in New York City under the esteemed Stella Adler.
He lauded Adler in an interview from 2022, stating, "I used to say if God is a woman, it's her."

Regarding his acting style, Margolis noted, "I was happy that I didn't need to learn any lines." Actually, I didn't need to cross the line. I mean, I wanted to know what was going on, and I had my signals. I needed to be outdoors. Never mind about New Mexico or anything else.

On social media, Margolis' co-stars also paid tribute to him. Writer Thomas Schnauz, who collaborated with Margolis on "Breaking Bad" and "Better Call Saul," recalled how Margolis made him laugh every time they worked together on set.

One of the "Better Call Saul" co-creators, Peter Gould, tweeted, "Heartbroken to learn we lost Mark Margolis." "Mark was intelligent, hilarious, and a gazillion other good qualities. I have pleasant memories of him.

As a gifted, hilarious storyteller, Mark Margolis left a history of outstanding performances. He will be deeply missed and cherishedly remembrances.
